Getting away from it all
When it comes down to getting away from it all, connecting with nature, interacting with the most rural of our local mountain folks, then do we have the spot for you!
Just an hour away (on private transport) or an hour 45 minutes (public) Guanabana Tours offers you the interact or retreat experience of a lifetime.
On a private and isolated terrain up in the mountains overlooking a river valley with the most awe inducing views (both day and night) you can set up camp in complete tranquility and connect with nature during the day and the cosmos during the night.
During the day our local guide don Gabriel who lives nearby will take you for nature treks through the green mountains, introduce you to the local campesino community as he explains their subsistence farming methods brought down through countless generations, and walk you to magic scenarios and waterfalls.
This is the true off-the-beaten-path experience, where you will find out that you are as interesting and rare to the local folks as they are to you, with so much to teach and learn from each other, experiences that all sides will never forget!
At the same time you can just set up camp and relax, disconnect, not move from there and not be bothered by anyone or anything, party or meditate around a bonfire all day and night to your heart's content, with all the basic necessities like bathroom and shower mere feet away in a small uninhabited pre-fab house open just for campers, supplies just a phone call to don Gabriel who will arrange a mototaxi to bring food or anything else from the town of Sopetrán just 6 kms away down the gravel road, 15 mins away.
On clear nights star gazing is a favourite passtime, meteor showers a blast, full moons mystical, the nights are magical at our Guanabana camping sight.
Our bonfires are famous in the region too, gathering wood in the surroundings makes for great fun as we are always trying to out-do the last one.
To get there from Medellin is only 20,000 COP per person (USD 6.50) on public transportation that leaves you at the central park of Sopetrán, then from there you can hire one of countless "moto-taxis" or tuk-tuks to drive you up to the Finca Hotel El Noral (15 mins, 6 kms on a gravel road) that belongs to don Gabriel where he will greet you with a huge smile and show you the camp site.
Basic camping rate is 15,000 COP (USD 5) per 2 people tent.
This does not include camping gear, transport or food, but we can also provide, contact us for quotes.
If you are a nature lover and camping aficionado you can not leave Medellin without experiencing our Guanabana camp site, you will for ever remember the place as a life changing experience!
