Humpback Whale Watching
From July - October
Starting July and going through until October we receive a visit from the humpback whale off the seas of Colombia's Pacific coast.
It is layover from their 16,000 mile migration route to come to mate and give birth to their newborn babies in these warm waters.
The humpback whale is known for putting on an electrifying aerial show by shooting out of the water in almost its entirety to land in a huge splash caused by sometimes over 40 tons of mass. They are also known for their mystical and haunting whale songs.
In our whale watching tour we fly 45 minutes from Medellin to the small beach town of Nuquí on the Pacific coast of Colombia in the state of Chocó. This is a very primitive area of rainforest jungles and kilometers long pristine beaches, forever isolated and barely touched by the fast pace of technology and modernization where the local populations still survive with the same basic methods of fishing and cultivation. Tourism has been slow to reach the Colombian Pacific coasts offering an opportunity to connect with nature in the purest form.
We will stay at a private villa with our own chef and cleaning personnel.
All our whale watching and diving will be done in our own private tours. If you wish to take the scuba diving course and leave with Padi certification this is the best opportunity to do so.
